Sirius Software tames the complexity of modern database and application architectures, providing products and services that enable our customers to rapidly and effectively harness useful new technologies. Sirius combines extensive research and development in the field of high-performance database management with a direct involvement in the implementation and support of large-scale application systems. The tight integration of world-class R&D with experience at the "coal face" of real-world applications gives Sirius a uniquely powerful perspective.

Sirius is able to look through and beyond emerging technologies to develop a clear picture of how they can best be used to address the needs of application developers. Sirius has been able to stay ahead of the curve, releasing easy-to-use APIs in its products well ahead of the general industry adoption of the same technology. As a result, our customers have been free to focus on the development of their applications without fear of obsolescence or missing out on important new developments.

"I am totally excited about Janus and the Sirius XML API. For the first time in a decade I have a bunch of tools for business processing that in many ways are more powerful than the tools being used by other developers in our shop, including Forte and other PC tools. When I started on my latest project some functionality I needed was missing, but you guys at Sirius have been fantastic at delivering the bits we need in real time. And while there are still many facilities we need, we have enough to be able to build truly complex, sophisticated and powerful applications." – Luciano Quadraccia, Australia

Sirius provides an unparalleled level of support, enabling our customers to deploy complex, state of the art, application systems that deliver "five nines" levels of reliability and availability. Recognizing the increasing challenges of maintaining highly interconnected systems and the importance of continuous availability, Sirius has pioneered the development of "post hoc" debugging tools as well as techniques and supporting tools for real time application maintenance. All of Sirius' products work together to address the special challenges of Web Services and Service-Oriented Architectures.

"We support a huge warehouse of vital operational data that is continuously fed from an evolving variety of sources. The processing required for cleansing, transforming and loading the data had become cumbersome and difficult to maintain. Using high-level APIs from Sirius we were able to quickly replace many thousand lines of stove-piped C and PL/I legacy code with a streamlined Model 204 implementation. The resulting User Language code is one quarter the size, executes faster, and costs about one tenth as much to maintain. We have been able to shift our focus from low-level programming details to meeting new application requirements." – Ray Murray, US Department of Defense

Sirius cross-licenses proprietary technologies with a variety of vendors, in the process becoming an important repository of interface information. Offering a rich array of add-on and interoperability products, Sirius is also actively involved in the evolution of various public standards. Sirius is the world's largest vendor of add-on products for Model 204.

Sirius is named after the brightest star in the universe. "Sirius" (Alpha Canis Majoris) is part of the constellation Canis Major, the larger of Orion's hunting dogs. The Sirius logo is the Egyptian hieroglyphic for the star Sirius.
