The Sirius Logo

The logo for Sirius Software is the Egyptian hieroglyph for the star Sirius.

The cult of Osiris dates from the First Dynasty of ancient Egypt and appears to have its origins in the agricultural cycle. Like the vegetation, Osiris dies until revived in the next season. Egyptians closely identified this pattern with the yearly flooding of the Nile, which replenished the soil. As a result of the Earth's orbit around the Sun, Sirius rises at a constantly changing time and position. For a period of seventy days the rising of Sirius occurs after sunrise and before sunset, making it invisible. Sirius reappears at the time of its heliacal rising, apparently emerging from the Sun. During the time of the Pharohs, the heliacal rising of Sirius coincided with the flooding of the Nile. Because of precession, the 26,000-year wobble of the Earth's axis (and the Aswan Dam), this is no longer true.

As Osirianism evolved, the cult became more involved with the cycle of death and rebirth. Osiris became the triumphant and transcendant revived god, the ruler of the kindom of the dead. Everyone wanted to achieve immortality along the lines of the phoenix, who like Sirius, flew into the Sun and was later reborn. Ancient Egyptian embalmers took seventy days to prepare a body for burial, exactly the length of time that Sirius is consumed by the Sun.

Pyramids were built to house the spirits of the pharaohs who were presumably in transit to immortality. Pyramids were also used as sighting devices for celestial objects. The Sirius hieroglyph shows the obvious morning star, plus a pyramid and a symbol for the benben. The benben symbolizes the emergence of existence from non-existence.

At any rate, given the relationship between Sirius Software and Model 204, the idea of rebirth or immortality seems relevant.
